VUGTK

VÚGTK deals with applied and basic research in the field of geodesy, land surveying and cadastre of real estate, development and testing of new methodologies, procedures and software. The institute was founded in 1954 and employs approximately 55 staff in four research departments: GIS and Cadastre, Information Center and Surveying Library, Geodesy and Geodynamics and Metrology and Surveyinng Engineering. VÚGTK operates a detached location - Geodetic Observatory Pecný - which is managed by the Department of Geodesy and Geodynamics. Theoretical and experimental basic research in geodesy and gravimetry with application outputs, especially in metrology of gravitational acceleration and positioning, is performed at this observatory. As part of the CzechGeo / EPOS project, the observatory ensures the operation and development of infrastructure - an observatory network of permanent GNSS stations VESOG and in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague and the University of Patras operating PPGNet network, which consists of GNSS stations in Greece. In addition to the operation of GNSS stations connected to International GNSS Service (IGS), continuous and epoch observations of gravitational acceleration using superconducting and absolute gravimeters are performed at the Pecný Geodetic Observatory, a seismic station connected to the CRSN is operated and local environmental conditions are monitored by a system of sensors. In addition to observatory activities, data analysis and development of relevant software are performed. Analytic centers for GNSS and DORIS data processing from worldwide networks of stations within IGS and the International DORIS service (IDS) are operated. Gravimetric data are processed and transmitted to International Geodynamics and Earth Tide Service (IGETS) and to the database of absolute gravimetric measurements AGrav.
