West Bohemia Geodynamic Observatory WEBGEODYN

Geodynamic network West Bohemia – WEBGEODYN (West Bohemia Geodynamic Observatory) is located in the western part of the Czech Republic in the area of the earthquake swarms occurrence. Measurements are performed using GNSS technology, as well as precise levelling and gravimetry. Institute of Geophysics started this activity already in 1993. The network is designed for campaign-style observations. Local GNSS network consists of 26 points (18 points in inner network, 8 points in outer network) with its centre located in the heart of epicentral zone in the Nový Kostel village. All GNSS points are built with 5 m long steel pipes (1.5 m above ground) fixed and filled with concrete and with a screw for forced centration of antenna. The longest baseline is 40 km. The whole network used to be observed once or twice a year, however, since 2009 the interval is irregular. Beside the campaigns there was a permanent station NKIG installed in 2006 (replaced by NKOS in 2013), and later, in 2018, another permanent station KVET was established. Precise levelling is performed annually in the centre of the earthquake area. Gravity campaigns are being performed irregularly according to geodynamic activity.
