Local seismic network MONET

The MONET local seismic network is operated to monitor the seismic activity of the northeastern part of the Czech Republic, which is characterized by the occurrence of stronger historical earthquakes, regionally anomalous levels of microseismicity and other manifestations of increased geodynamic activity (Nysa-Morava zone). The basic inner part of the MONET network consists of 9 stations in northern and central Moravia and eastern Bohemia operated by the Institute of Physics of the Earth in Brno (IPE) – these are the high-frequency stations MUVC, ANAC, LIPC, LOSC, SUPC, LUKC, PIVO, RYBC and MORC (the latter also has a broadband sensor). All of these stations are equipped with sensitive seismometers located in 2-5 m deep shafts and provide continuous recordings with low noise levels, which are sampled at a frequency of 200 Hz and provided in real time. Since 2016, for the purposes of the CzechGeo/EPOS project, the KLOK, STEB and ZLHC stations of the Institute of Geonics of the ASCR in Ostrava (IGN) have also been assigned to this network. Station records are transferred to data centres in Brno and Ostrava, from where they are shared further on. The comprehensive processing of this data is provided by IPE using adjacent stations of CRSN network, especially VRAC, JAVC, MRAC, OKC, KRLC, DPC, UPC, OSTC, CHVC.
