Czech Regional Seismic Network

Czech Regional Seismic network monitors earthquakes and other seismic events (like mining induced events, explosions in quarries) in the Czech Republic and worldwide. It consists of 21 broadband seismic stations in the territory of the Czech Republic. Data are transferred in real time to data centres at the Institute of Geophysics CAS in Prague and Institute of Physics of the Earth, Masaryk University in Brno The network is operated by IG CAS (10 stations), IPE MU Brno (5 stations), IRSM CAS (3 stations), IG CAS Ostrava (1 station), Charles University in Prague (1 station) and RIGTK in Zdiby (1 station). Seismological service of the Institute of Geophysics produces in cooperation with IPE MU Brno catalogues of earthquakes in the Czech Republic and in Central Europe, and bulletins containing readings of seismic stations. Digital data are exchanged with national and international seismological centres. Observed and interpreted data aid rapid location of major arthquakes anywhere in the world, as well as to studies of the Earth structure and processes.
